Larry Smith

Larry Smith writes a column called Tough Call every Wednesday for the Nassau Tribune. A former reporter and editor, he operates a communications agency and book distributor in Nassau (www.bahamasmedia.com). In 2003 he led a transition management team at the Nassau Guardian after the paper was acquired by new investors. He launched his Tribune column in May, 2004. Andrew Allen

Andrew Allen studied law at the University of Hull in England, specializing in trusts and international trade. He has a graduate degree in commercial and corporate law from the University of London and was called to the Bar in 1997. He was an associate attorney and compliance officer at Higgs & Kelly in Nassau until founding his own firm in 2002. Mr Allen's column - Perspectives - has run on Mondays in the Tribune since 1999. Sir Arthur Foulkes

Sir Arthur Foulkes writes To The Point on Tuesdays in the Nassau Tribune. He was a reporter and editor at the Tribune from 1948 to 1962 when he became founding editor of the Bahamian Times. His column first appeared in the Tribune in the early 1970s. Elected to parliament in 1967, he was a cabinet minister in the first PLP government and a founder of the Free National Movement in 1971. As a delegate to the Bahamas Independence Conference in London in 1972, he drafted the opposition memorandum for the conference. In 1992 he was appointed high commissioner to the United Kingdom and ambassador to the European Union. Since 1999 he has been ambassador to China. Email: sirarthurfoulkes@hotmail.com.

Craig Butler

Craig Butler studied law at Wolverhampton University in England and at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. He also has a degree in economics from Rollins College in Florida. Mr Butler's column runs in the Nassau Guardian on Mondays and he also hosts a weekly political talk show on Island FM. Nicolette Bethel

Nicolette Bethel is the author of Essays on Life in the Nassau Guardian Weekender, and currently serves as director of culture for the Bahamas government. She is a social anthropologist, a writer and researcher in the fields of Bahamian national identity and Junkanoo. Her plays have been produced locally, and her fiction and poetry have appeared in various collections.
