i am in total agreement with on this matter. i think all the national heroes and thier contribution to the Bahamian society should be posted in every school. i have read a few social studies books and i have yet to see a list. i there a way you could send me a list with the heroes and thier contributions? i would love to give this list to my social studies teacher thank you in advance.

Bethel you took the words right out of my mind. I am a young Bahamian female myself (20 yrs), and I admit that I knew nothing about Bahamian heroes upon graduating from a well-known private school in Nassau. Not until I arrived in college abroad, did my quest for knowledge of Bahamian greats occur. Our Ministry of Education (regardless of political affiliation) need to dismiss the idea that "doing something" is merely building more schools, and "fixing up" classrooms. the aesthetic appeal means absolutely nothing, when our children--myself included--are growing up lost and without a sense of pride. As a college senior at a Historically Black University, I feel that this is the main reason why many of us, adopt so easily to Jamaican or American culture when we go abroad. We direly need something to be proud of!
