Tradewinds

Brian Ross, the NBC correspondent, in his "The Bahamas: A Nation for Sale" disclosed for the world to see the illegal drug trade that was taking place in the Bahamas.. The government turned a blind eye while politicians filled their bank accounts with bribes and illegal payoffs..

In 1991, another piece of the Bahamian criminal puzzle emerged with the publication by criminologist and Professor Allan Block's "Masters of Paradise" which exposed the secret workings of organized crime and Internal Revenue Service in the Bahamas.. Names are called, facts are uncovered which would shock the not only the average Bahamian reader but professionals in banking and law as well..

Today in the world media, we have become a nation that is characterized by crime, cronyism and political corruption.. It seems that little has changed since our Independence as only the cast of political characters and cronies has changed as our Bahamas is still up for sale..
