That is an excellent balanced analysis.
My alma mater Yale University recently had to make the decision whether to change the name of much beloved Calhoun College, as Calhoun was a leading Senator favouring secession and non- recognition of blacks as citizens. After long debate and polling of alumni, the decision was made to remove Calhoun, and there was no significant outcry of dissent. (I don't recall the chosen new name, but that was not the issue).
