I have told many people "Tourism is to the Bahamas as coal mining was to West Virginia. It is the industry that God has given you, whether you like it or not."

Tourism makes up 60% to 70% of the Bahamian economy, depending on who is counting the beans. Does it make sense that 2/3 of Bahamians would enjoy working in the tourist industry? Of course not! It's a wonder that Bahamian music doesn't dis tourism the same way that American country music disses coal mining. Imagine..

"Serve sixteen tables and whaddya get? Another day older and deeper in debt!"

Ronnie Butler, here's your next song.
