The person who wrote the original script, invented "Flipper" and was the overseeing eye to keep the movie close to his script was Ben Astarita. The same Ben Astarita who was involved with the inception and actualisation of the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association - the non governmental organisation which is manned and supported by private citizens that we refer to as BASRA.
Ben and his wife Helen (who joined Berta Sands as co-founder of Bahama Hand Prints) at that time lived where BASRA is currently located, and the bottle nosed dolphin which played Flipper was penned and trained at that same location.
This is merely a point of interest to be shared before it is forgotten.
